673 passengers fined Rs 5 lakh for travelling without tickets in Jammu

JAMMU — The Jammu Division of Northern Railway conducted an extensive ticket-checking drive, collecting fines worth ₹5 lakh from 673 passengers, an official said on Saturday.

The drive, led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, was carried out at key stations across the division, including Jammu, Pathankot Cantonment, Pathankot City, Katra, Srinagar, and Budgam, the official said in a statement.

A total of 673 passengers were fined for travelling without valid tickets, resulting in a collection of approximately ₹5 lakh, the statement added.

A joint team also conducted thorough search at the Jammu railway station, including platforms, trains, waiting areas, and parking lots.

Urging passengers to cooperate with railway staff, Singhal said, “Let us all enjoy safe and smooth travel this festive season.” — (PTI)
