Police inspector among five injured in Srinagar grenade attack

SRINAGAR — A police inspector was among five civilians who received minor injuries after suspected militants hurled a grenade on security forces at Hari Singh High street summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday.

Official sources said that in the incident, an ACB inspector was among five who were injured.

They identified the injured persons as Asmat, a resident of Charari Sharief Budgam, Tanveera wife of Mohammad Shafi Bhat, resident of Chattabal Srinagar and Mohammad Shafi Bhat son of Ghulam Mohmmad, resident of Chattabal Srinagar and Insp. Tanveer Hussian, a resident of Budgam presently posted at ACB Srinagar and fifth one as Nusrat wife of Dr tanzeem, a resident of Nawa Bazar Srinagar.

They said all the five injured persons were hospitalized. “The condition of all persons is stated to be ‘stable’,” they added.

A police official said that a case under relevant sections of law is being registered and further investigation is on. — (KDC)
