DGP orders constitution of special teams for handling cyber-crime investigations in J&K

SRINAGAR — Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh Wednesday ordered constitution of teams of well-trained officers for handling cyber-crime investigation in Jammu and Kashmir

The circular forwarded to special DGP Crime, J&K, ADGP, Jammu Zone and IGP Kashmir reads that form teams of well-trained officers to handle cyber-crime investigations in their each unit or wing.

A police spokesman in a statement said that the circular also stresses for observing ‘cyber awareness day” on the first Wednesday of every month to create awareness on cyber related frauds in all vernacular languages.

“The awareness may include Phishing simulations, Quiz Contacts, lectures, Audio-Visuals presentation on “Best Practices”, Social Media Hygiene, Short films, Poster/leaflet etc, in local languages, Intelligence operations “whole of nation” in order to educate public and private sector and increase cyber resilience of the national event, the spokesperson said.

“With the boom in digital platform/markets etc and digital services provided by different banks and institutions including government departments, cyber frauds, phishing etc cases are reported,” he spokesperson said.

“This step will go a long way in making people aware and will also sharpen investigation skills of the J&K Police investigation officers handling the cybercrimes.” — (KNO)
