Pulwama encounter ends, two local Al-Badr militants killed

PULWAMA — Two local militants of Al-Badr outfit were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Mitrigam village in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Wednesday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Mitrigam following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, two local militants of Al-Badr outfit were killed and they have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Hafiz from Dalipora Pulwama and Shahid Ayoub from Murran Pulwama.

Sources said Aijaz was missing since January 10 this year, while as Shahid had gone missing in the on-going month of Ramadhan.

2 AK rifles have been recovered from the site of encounter.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, “the duo were involved in series of attacks on outside labourers in Pulwama in the month of March-April 2022.” — (KIMS)
