ANANTNAG — An encounter breaks out between government forces and militants at Marhama village in Bijbehara town of Anantnag district in South Kashmir on Wednesday. It is the second encounter in Kashmir valley today.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Marhama village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The encounter was going-on when reports last came in. Another encounter was underway between government forces and militants at Salinder forests in North Kashmir.
It is pertinent to mention that two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit were killed in an encounter at Kreeri Dooru area of Anantnag district on Tuesday. — (KIMS)
