SRINAGAR — In order to give undue benefits to some candidates and mint money, some officials at SKIMS Soura are pushing higher ups to publish selection lists which are already under scanner.
Top SKIMS officials pleading anonymity said that some officials are trying to take undue benefits of the autonomous status of SKIMS and try to mislead the higher officials so that under scanner recruitment lists can be published and they can help their candidates to be part of the list.
The SKIMS advertised 37 vacancies of drivers to strengthen its Transport Section (Advt No. 4 of 2017, dated 17 June 2017) and 659 eligible candidates were called for driving test in January 2020 and 185 candidates shortlisted (vide Notice No. SIMS 302 /13/18/09/2018-3105-3112 dt 28.8.2020), they said.
They added that due to unknown reasons some candidates despite qualifying driving tests were left out but after resisting they were included in the list following which interviews of 188 candidates were conducted in 2020.
Several candidates raised voice after they alleged some officials of resorting to favouritism and nepotism after which the recruitment came under scanner, they said.
They said both former and incumbent directors are of the opinion that these posts must be referred to JKSSB so that the recruitment process will be transparent and nobody can raise any voice. But some officials who may have some deal with some candidates are trying to mislead higher authorities so that they can give undue benefit to their candidates.
Similarly, some officials are using the same tactics to complete the selection process of posts advertised under advertised vide Notification No 03 of 2020, they added.
For instance, five candidates were shortlisted for supervisor post and two or three among them were sons of officials working at SKIMS, they said, adding that the same happened with posts of physiotherapist, JE and others.
Candidates at the time of examination of these posts have raised their voice as a blank OMR sheet was given to the son of one employee which was later filled with all right answers, they said.
Some officials are trying hard to mislead higher ups so that a selection list of these already under scanner recruitments will be issued, so that they can give undue benefit to their candidates.
Candidates have time and again expressed their apprehension and alleged that some officials at the Institute have resorted to nepotism and favouritism due to which selection has not been fair.
They have demanded that all vacant and pending posts must be referred to any neutral recruitment agency so that the selection process can be fair. — (KNO)
