SRINAGAR — A Pakistani militant is among the two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit who were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Chaktaras Kandi area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on Tuesday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Chaktaras Kandi area of Kupwara district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed and they have been identified as Tufail from Pakistan and Ishtiaq Lone from Tral. Ishtiaq had recently joined the militant outfit.
Two AK-56 rifles were recovered from the site of encounter.
Pertinently it was second encounter in North Kashmir in lass than 24 hours. One Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit was killed in an encounter at Panipora forest in Sopore on Monday. — (KIMS)
