SRINAGAR — An encounter breaks out between government forces and militants at Chitragam village in Shopian district and Yedipora area of Pattan village in Baramulla district on Friday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Chitragam village in Shopian district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area. Similar kind of operation was launched by joint team of forces in Yedipora area of Pattan village in Baramulla district.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spots, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The encounter was going-on when reports last came in. — (KIMS)
