Sopore Anti-Militancy Operation: 2-Day Old, Pakistani Militant Dead

SRINAGAR (KIMS) – Two militants were killed in an anti-militancy operation in North Kashmir’s Sopore town on Tuesday evening.

Reports said that the gunbattle started between militants and government forces and militants at Nathipora village in Sopore town on Tuesday evening in which two militants were killed.

The slain militants have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Lone from Hathlangoo Sopore and a Pakistani militant Asrar @ Sariya @ Hamas. Both were affiliated with (LeT) Lashkar-i-Toiba militant outfits.

Waseem had few days back gone missing from his home and his family members had appealed him to come back. They had also filed a missing report about their son in Police Station Warpora Sopore.

Earlier, government forces including Indian Army’s 22 RR, J&K Police and (CRPF) Central Reserve Police Force had jointly launched (CASO) Cordon-and-Search-Operation in Nathipora village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Mobile internet service have been snapped in Sopore town as a precautionary measure in wake of gunbattle.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir has said that the foreign militant was involved in killing of two councilors and a policeman in a attack in Sopore town on 29th March this year. – (KIMS)
