Five soldiers killed in Rajouri encounter, Operation underway

JAMMU (KIMS) — At least five soldiers were killed in an encounter at Kesari area of Kandi forest in Rajouri district.

The encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Kesari area of Kandi in Rajouri district on Friday morning.

Earlier, the joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Kandi area of Rajouri district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Two soldiers were killed and four others including an officer were injured during the initial stage of the encounter. The injured were taken to Command Hospital, Udhampur for treatment where three among them succumbed to their injuries, taking toll to five.

The five soldiers who were killed in the encounter have been identified as L/Nk Ruchin Singh Rawat S/o Sh. Rajendra Singh from Uttrakhand, Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri S/o Sh. Kharka Bahdur from Darjeeling, (WB), Nk Arvind Kumar S/o Sh. Ujwaal Singh from Kangra (H.P), Hav Neelam Singh S/o Shri Gurdev Singh from Jammu (J&K) and Paratrooper Pramod Negi S/o Sh. Devinder Singh Negi from Sirmaur (H.P).
