Two Pakistani militants killed in Baramulla encounter

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in an encounter in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Wednesday.

The encounter broke out between a joint team of forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF and militants at Hadipora area of Rafiabad in Sopore town on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Hadipora area of Rafiabad in Baramulla district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, two militants from Pakistan affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit were killed and they have been identified as Usman and Umar.

Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition in huge quantity were recovered from the site of encounter.

Army in a statement said, “Usman has been active in Kashmir valley since 2020.”

“The killing of two militants is a big success for security forces,” the statement said. — (KIMS)
