JAMMU (KIMS) — At least three militants were killed after intense firefight between security forces and militants at Batal village in Akhnoor area of Jammu and Kashmir, Army said on Tuesday.
“After round the clock surveillance through out the night, an intense firefight unfolded today morning resulting in a significant victory for our forces. The relentless operations and tactical excellence has led to the elimination of three terrorists,” Indian Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
“The operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like stores, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region,” the post added.
The firefight ensued between security forces and militants on Monday morning after militants fired upon Army ambulance at Batal village in Akhnoor.
The Army had intensified the operation along with National Security Guard (NSG) Commandos.
Army’s dog, Phantom died after being hit by the bullet during the operation. Paying tributes to Phantom, White Knight Corps in a post on X said, “We salute the supreme sacrifice of our true hero—a valiant Indian Army Dog, Phantom. As our troops were closing in on the trapped terrorists, Phantom drew enemy fire, sustaining fatal injuries. His courage, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten. — (KIMS)
