SINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants at Kachwan forest area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the encounter broke out after a joint team of security forces, including the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Halkan Gali, Kachwan in Achabal, following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, two unidentified militants were killed and another one is likely trapped. The operation was going on when the reports last came in.
Another encounter was underway between security forces and militants in Khanyar area of Downtown Srinagar. — (KIMS)
