DDC visits Shopian Town, inspects ongoing developmental works

SHOPIAN — To track the pace of ongoing developmental works in the Shopian town, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today took first-hand stock of the progress of different developmental projects which are currently under execution.

These projects and works include New Vending Zone, ongoing CT/PT near Tehsil Office Shopian, Reading Room cum Library at Gagren Shopian, Old Bus Stand Shopian, newly constructed Sumo Stand Kanipora and other important locations.

During the visit, the DDC emphasized upon the early completion of the Vending Zone so that the initiative taken by the District Administration for proper/systematic rehabilitation of street vendors is finalized accordingly.

On spot directions were also issued regarding re-designing of space available at old bus stand Shopian for its proper and effective utilization. It was instructed to explore the possibilities for construction of modern type Shopping Mall with adequate facility of parking in the basement and ground floor, necessary directions were issued regarding preparation of DPR for the said project.

Apart from the other vital locations, the DDC along with Municipal Authorities, visited the Tehsil Office and took stock of the ongoing work of newly sanctioned Community/Public Toilet near Tehsil Office Shopian.

Ongoing construction of Reading Room cum Library at Gagren Shopian was also inspected and instructions were issued for early completion of the project so that the facility is dedicated to the general public of the Town and student community in particular.

The DDC was Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Mohammad Iqbal Bhat and other officers and officials during the visit.
