IGP Kashmir inaugurates Police martyrs T-20 cricket tournament in Anantnag, opens general Mess & Gym at DPL

ANANTNAG — IGP Kashmir, Shri V.K. Birdi, visited District Anantnag today and inaugurated the Police Martyrs T-20 Cricket Tournament at the Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College ground, Anantnag.

Organized in honor of the fallen heroes of Jammu & Kashmir Police, the tournament aims to foster unity, sportsmanship, and youth engagement by providing a platform for local talent to showcase their skills.

A total of 32 teams from different areas of Anantnag district are participating in the event for the next 10 days.

During his visit, IGP Kashmir also inaugurated the General Mess and Gym Center for Police Personnel at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag.

These facilities are designed to enhance the welfare and morale of the Police force by ensuring access to quality meals and modern fitness resources, reflecting the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its Personnel.

The event was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Javid Iqbal, SSP Anantnag Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, DC Anantnag Shri Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Principal Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College Shri Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, international cricketer Shri Parvez Rasool, families of Police martyrs, and other senior officers of the district.

Additionally, IGP Kashmir inspected various Police stations in the district to assess their functioning and performance, with the aim of boosting morale, identifying areas for improvement, and streamlining Police operations for better community service.

IGP Kashmir’s visit underscores J&K Police’s ongoing commitment to honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes and promoting the welfare of its personnel.

Initiatives such as the cricket tournament and the new facilities at DPL highlight efforts to engage the youth constructively and strengthen the morale of the Police force, contributing to a safer and more prosperous Anantnag.
