KULGAM — Three local LeT militants were slain in an anti-militancy operation between government forces and militants at Chimmer area in Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
The militants slain in anti-militancy operation have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Bangroo from Redwani Kulgam, Shahnawaz Ahmad from Kilbal Shopian and Zakir Bashir from Chimmer Kulgam.
Reports said, Zakir had recently joined the militant outfit.
Two army personnel also got injured during the anti-militancy operation and they were shifted to Srinagar based army hospital for treatment.
Earlier joint team of government forces including Indian Army’s 09 RR, 18 BN CRPF and J&K Police had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Chimmer village of Kulgam district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter, police said.
