Property of notorious drug peddler attached under NDPS Act in Kupwara

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police attached a residential property in Lolab area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on Monday.

Jammu and Kashmir Police attached the residential house under Section 68 (F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 of Lateef Ahmad Chouhan, Son of Jalal Din Chouhan, of Surigam Lolab in the presence of DySP PC Lolab, Tehsildar Lalpora, and SHO Sogam.

This action pertains to Case FIR No. 61/2017 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Sogam.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kupwara Police. This decisive step underscores the commitment of Kupwara Police to eradicating the drug menace from the region.” police said in a statement.

Police has also appealed to the public to actively support this mission by providing any information regarding drug-related activities.

“Public cooperation is crucial in combating this social evil. Those found involved in drug peddling or related activities will face stringent legal action,” the statement said. — (KIMS)
