PULWAMA [Mudasir Maqbool] (KIMS) — The third edition of the much-anticipated Souch Kral T10 Cosco Cricket Tournament was officially inaugurated at the Government Women’s Degree College (GWC), Pulwama.
The opening match of the tournament was played between GDC Rajpora and GDC Shopian at the college playground, marking the beginning of an exciting series of matches.
A total of 10 teams, representing each district of the valley, are participating in this inter-college cricket tournament.
The event, organized by the Department of Physical Education at GWC Pulwama, serves as a platform for female students to showcase their talent and passion for sports.
The initiative not only nurtures their cricketing skills but also aims to promote physical and mental well-being among young women.
Speaking at the inauguration, Professor Dr. Khalida Hassan, the In-Charge Principal of GWC Pulwama, highlighted the significance of the event.
She stated, “The Department of Physical Education is dedicated to providing improved sports infrastructure and opportunities to our students and those from other colleges. Our primary aim is to encourage young women to excel in sports while maintaining their physical fitness and mental health. This tournament reflects our commitment to fostering talent and supporting holistic development.”
Dr. Hassan further emphasized the importance of sports in empowering women and instilling confidence, teamwork, and discipline.
“Such events offer a great platform for students to compete, learn, and grow. We will continue our efforts to create more opportunities like this,” she added.
