Doing away with practice of Darbar Move a death blow to pluralistic history of J&K: Muzafar Shah

SRINAGAR — Awami National Conference Friday said that the only Platform of interaction among our different regions between all religions and ethnic groups has now come to end.

ANC senior Vice President Muzzafar Shah said that a demographic change that hits at the vitals of our society in J&K has been affected on the pluralistic culture of our 5,000 year history by the absurd, illogical, ill-conceived decision of the BJP Govt by cancelling a 149 years old practice to end the concept of Darbar Move in J&K.

While talking to reporters, Shah said that this decision of stopping the Darbar Move, a unique exercise conducted to preserve the Culture, religious and economic parameters of the diverse and sensitive land locked Himalayan state was dealt a major blow which would have severe implications and repercussions Politically, Socially, administratively and economically throughout J&K state.

“The economies of both the regions were inter-dependent and self-serviced by the age old practice of Darbar move that oiled the economies of both regions without outside help. We will forget each other after we stop visiting between Jammu and Kashmir that will put a halt on our social, cultural, religious and economic bonding that stood the test of times for centuries in spite of all challenges and turmoil since last 149 years. Money is no consideration to the death blow to our secular credentials exhibited from all sides,” Muzzafar Shah said.

The ANC makes a fervent appeal on behalf of people from all regions of J&K to the Prime Minister of India to cancel this unwarranted and illogical black law and restore the Darbar move practice in J&K to uphold its 1000’s of years of history preserved and protected by every citizen of this State.

The ANC leadership also highlighted another grave issue befallen on the people of J&K brought about under the BJP ruled Govt of issuing a Draconian Law that hits at the vitals of the constitution of this Country, when a person applying for a job has to render information about his immediate family, their antecedents, bank information, travel information, any connection with any banned organization, militant organizations, social media connections, affiliation with Political Party etc which amounts to basic violation of human and fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of the Country.

“Why is such a draconian law being implemented for only J&K? Such exercise is creating panic and depressions in our youngsters and questions are being asked of the Prime Minister, “Is this how the distance between Kashmir and Delhi is to be bridged”?

The people of J&K demand repeal of such black laws at once violating basic fundamentals of the constitution and ask “why only for J&K”?

On the issue of 370 and it being subjudice, the ANC leadership firmly stated that pleading for restoration of 370/35 A does not amount to contempt of Court nor can the matter be brushed under the carpet by taking the pretext of it being “Sub Judice.” — (KNT)
