Properties worth ₹6 crore attached in Srinagar drug cases: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Police on Saturday said they have attached three immovable properties and one vehicle worth around ₹6 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers in Srinagar under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

According to a police statement, the action was carried out by Police Station Khanyar under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act against three accused involved in separate narcotics cases.

Police said a double-storeyed residential house along with eight shops constructed on 4.5 marlas of land at Koolipora Khanyar, valued at around ₹3.2 crore, belonging to Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir Lashkari, son of Abdul Wahab Mir, resident of Koolipora Khanyar, was attached in connection with FIR No. 08/2020 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Khanyar.

In another case, police attached a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK01AW-8898 valued at around ₹20 lakh along with seven marlas of land and a temporary structure erected on it having a combined estimated value of around ₹1.8 crore belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rahman Mir, resident of Baghi Roop Singh Miskeen Bagh Khanyar.

The attachment was made in connection with FIR No. 08/2026 under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Khanyar, police said.

Police also attached a single-storeyed residential house constructed on nine marlas of land valued at around ₹80 lakh belonging to Zahid Manzoor Rather, son of Manzoor Ahmad Rather, resident of Lone Mohalla Nowpora Khanyar.

The property was attached in connection with FIR No. 96/2020 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Khanyar.

Police said the attached properties were identified as illegally acquired assets generated through proceeds of narcotics trafficking and drug peddling.

Police reiterated its commitment towards eradicating the drug menace in Srinagar and said stringent action against drug peddlers and their illegally acquired assets will continue under the ongoing anti-drug campaign. — (KIMS)
