SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Police on Tuesday disclosed the identity and particulars of the accused arrested in connection with the murder of a minor girl in Galwanpora area of Budgam district after completion of initial legal and forensic formalities.
According to a police statement, the disclosure was made in continuation of investigation into FIR No. 139/2026 registered at Police Station Budgam regarding the murder of the minor girl from Galwanpora village.
Police said the identity of the accused was not revealed earlier as several medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures were underway during the initial stage of investigation and disclosure at that stage could have prejudiced the legal process.

The statement also advised people against taking law into their own hands or circulating rumours, speculative content and unverified allegations related to the case, warning that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
Police further urged media organisations and social media users to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter, stating that circulation of misleading or unverified content could create public anxiety and disturb law and order.
