GANDERBAL — Two minor children lost their lives after accidentally slipping into the Baba Irrigation Canal in Goripora village of Kangan area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Arshiya (4), daughter of Mohammad Amin Lone, and Mohammad Imran (6), son of Mohammad Iqbal Lone, both residents of Goripora village.
Quoting an official, The-Newscast reported that the children accidentally slipped into the canal and drowned. Following the incident, locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue effort, retrieving the bodies from the water.
However, both children had already died by the time they were brought out of the canal, the official said.
The incident has triggered grief in the area, with residents expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of the two children.
