SPO disengaged from service over involvement in NDPS case in Baramulla

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service in Baramulla district of North Kashmir with immediate effect following his alleged involvement in an NDPS case.

According to a police statement, SPO Khalid Nazir Khan (3098/SPO), resident of Katipora Tangmarg, was removed from the SPO cadre after his name surfaced in a narcotics-related case registered at Police Station Kunzer.

Police said that on April 23, 2026, during naka checking at Wussan Crossing, an Alto vehicle was intercepted by a team from Police Station Kunzer.

The occupants of the vehicle, including the SPO, were found in suspicious circumstances. During checking, syringes and needles were recovered from their possession, while silver foil paper used for consumption of narcotic substances was recovered from the vehicle, the statement said.

Accordingly, FIR No. 46/2026 under Sections 8/27/29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kunzer.

In view of his alleged involvement in the case and conduct deemed unbecoming of a member of a disciplined force, the SPO was disengaged from service with immediate effect, police said.

Baramulla Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and misconduct and said it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline, integrity and accountability within its ranks. — (KIMS)
