SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure on Thursday ordered the disengagement of a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service for alleged gross dereliction of duty during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
According to a police statement, the SPO, identified as Shabir Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Hamid Ganie, resident of Primegam Hiller Shahabad, Dooru, had been detailed for deployment during the annual pilgrimage.
Police said that despite being nominated and directed to report for duty, the SPO failed to join his assigned place of deployment without any valid justification or prior permission, thereby exhibiting serious negligence and indiscipline during a critical security assignment.
Taking serious note of the misconduct, SSP Anantnag ordered his immediate disengagement from service, the statement said.
Anantnag Police reiterated that discipline, dedication and professionalism are paramount, particularly during high-profile security operations such as the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Police said any negligence or dereliction of duty would be dealt with firmly in accordance with rules, while sincere and dedicated personnel would continue to be encouraged and appreciated. — (KIMS)
