Woman rescued after cloudburst triggers flash floods in Baramulla

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Civil Administration, on Thursday rescued a woman who was trapped inside her house following a cloudburst in the Mayan area of Lachipora, Bijhama area of Baramulla district.

According to a police statement, the cloudburst led to a sudden rise in water and debris in a local stream, triggering flash flooding and creating panic among residents of the area.

Following the emergency, the Tehsildar Boniyar, SDPO Uri and SHO Police Station Bijhama, along with rescue teams, rushed to the spot and safely evacuated the trapped woman.

Police said the prompt and coordinated response ensured that the rescue operation was completed without any loss of life.

Baramulla Police, in coordination with the Civil Administration, continues to monitor the affected area and remains prepared to respond to any emerging situation.

Authorities have advised residents living in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant, avoid moving near flooded streams and water channels, and strictly follow advisories issued by the administration. — (KIMS)
