SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday flagged off the Reading Marathon along the banks of Dal Lake, describing it as a unique celebration of knowledge, fitness and environmental responsibility.
Sharing details of the event, the Lieutenant Governor said thousands of students from colleges and universities across Jammu and Kashmir participated in the marathon, organised by the National Book Trust as part of the Chinar Book Festival.
Sinha said the Reading Marathon, held during Education Week, marks six successful years of the National Education Policy (NEP) and reflects the idea that education should extend beyond classrooms.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Run for a Green Future,” he said the event symbolises that just as acquiring knowledge requires discipline, protecting nature also demands sustained effort.
The Lieutenant Governor urged participants to adopt three resolutions: make reading a daily habit, dedicate themselves to environmental conservation, and commit to bringing positive change in society. — (KIMS)
