Rajouri DC building partially emptied after rain damage; assessment ordered

JAMMU — A few clerical sections at the deputy commissioner’s office in Rajouri were emptied on Monday over damage caused by heavy rain, an official said.

The sections were vacated after Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma ordered a structural safety assessment of the building, the official said.

Engineers and personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been roped in to conduct a detailed inspection of the building.

“As a precautionary measure and in the interest of the safety of employees and visitors, staff of few clerical sections have been temporarily shifted to an alternate location until the building is declared structurally safe by the NDRF and the engineering experts,” the official said.

The deputy commissioner will hold all public interactions in the lawn of the DC Office from 12.30 pm to 2 pm pending assessment. — (PTI)
