SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday expressed concern over reports of a crackdown on protesters in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and urged the Government of Pakistan to adopt a humane approach by engaging in dialogue instead of using force.
In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti said the visuals emerging from across the Line of Control (LoC) were deeply heartbreaking and described it as painful to see peaceful protesters being met with brute force.
She said the reported demands of the protesters appeared to be genuine and deserved to be heard.
No nation grows stronger by disempowering its own people or by silencing them at gunpoint, she added.
Mehbooba urged the Government of Pakistan to end the crackdown and stop using force against peaceful protesters.
She said Kashmiris deserve dignity, justice and the right to be heard through peaceful means rather than repression. — (KIMS)
