SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday handed over appointment letters on compassionate grounds to the son of a head constable killed in a terror attack last month and the wife of a police inspector who died in 2023.
The appointment letter was handed over to Absar Ashiq, son of head constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, at the Lok Bhavan here, an official spokesperson said.
Family members of the slain policeman were present on the occasion, the spokesperson said.
The lieutenant governor paid tributes to Qureshi, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during the July 22 terror attack in Anantnag, and assured the family of all possible support.
Last week, Sinha had visited the family of the martyred head constable at Lalpora in the Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The lieutenant governor also handed over an appointment letter to Inshah Nazir, wife of Inspector Masroor Ali Wani, on compassionate grounds.
Wani was shot dead by terrorists at close range while playing cricket at the Eidgah ground here in October 2023.
Sinha honoured the sacrifice of Inspector Wani and assured his family of every possible support and assistance from the administration, the spokesperson said. — (PTI)
