JAMMU — Jammu Police have arrested six alleged members of the Khauf Gang within 72 hours of a reported firing and death threat incident in Arnia, recovering three pistols, five sharp-edged weapons (tokas) and six live rounds, police said on Monday.
Following the incident, Police Station Arnia launched an investigation and initiated efforts to identify those involved. Police examined CCTV footage from multiple locations along the suspected route taken by the accused and extracted clear images of the suspects.
The images were circulated among reliable local sources, following which police identified and rounded up all six accused for questioning, officials said.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Arnia under relevant provisions of law. Police said further investigation is underway to uncover the backward and forward linkages of the case and establish the wider network, if any.
SP Headquarters Jammu cautioned parents to ensure that their children stay away from gangsterism and focus on education and physical fitness.
“Youth must be cultivated to become true assets to their society, instead of becoming agents of anti-national elements,” the officer said, warning that those involved in criminal activities would be dealt with strictly. — (KIMS)
