Ghaziabad cop held for beating youth who organised Diwali party for him

NEW DELHI — A sub-inspector in Ghaziabad’s Dasna Police Station was arrested on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a youth, who organised a dance party for him on Diwali.

According to the complaint filed by Irfan, sub-inspector Jitendra Gautam hosted a party at a flat on Diwali, Thursday. Irfan organised the party and also called in two women bar dancers. The inspector was at the party with two other persons.

Irfan claimed in the complaint that the inspector and his friends started misbehaving with the dancers. When Irfan protested against their behaviour, the inspector and his friends beat him up.

While Irfan escaped from the place, the inspector sent two people to his house and threatened his parents, the complaint stated.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Jitendra Gautam and four others under IPC Sections 147, 323, and 506. However, the accused inspector has not been charged with relevant sections regarding his alleged misconduct with the bar dancers.
