ACB books Technical Education Department official in disproportionate assets case

SRINAGAR — The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered an FIR against one Raja Ashraf Ali Khan, a Vocational Instructor in Technical Education Department Srinagar in a disproportionate assets case.

As per an official spokesperson, an FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered on outcome of a verification conducted by ACB into allegations of accumulation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income by Raja Ashraf Ali Khan.

The verification revealed that suspect is in possession of huge assets including immovable properties in Ganderbal and movable properties in shape of luxurious vehicles.

“Accused public servant has also indulged in businesses like Tourism/Hospitality and owns a Jewellery shop with turnover of over crores of rupees. The values of assets as well as expenditures incurred are found disproportionate to the income earned by him,” he said, adding that aforementioned facts constitute commission of offences punishable under sections 5(1) (e) read with 5 (2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 against Raja Ashraf Ali Khan, son of Raja Abdul Hassan Khan, resident of Rainawari, an employee of Technical Education Department Srinagar (Vocational Instructor).

“FIR 23/2021 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar. As part of investigation searches were conducted at house of the accused after obtaining search warrant from the Court, during which some incriminating evidences were found and seized,” he asserted, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
