SRINAGAR — J&K Peoples Conference Senior General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari today responded sharply to former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent admission that the rigged 1987 elections were the fundamental cause of violence in the region.
Ansari termed Abdullah’s statement as “the dark revelation of the truth by the even darker subconscious mind.”
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, Ansari’s retort comes in the wake of Omar Abdullah’s recent interview, where he disassociated Article 370 from the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir, attributing the region’s violent history unequivocally to the rigged 1987 elections rather than the constitutional provision.
Highlighting the significance of Abdullah’s acknowledgment of the 1987 elections as the “bloody tipping point,” Ansari questioned whether this revelation marks the long-awaited closure to the contentious events of that year.
He reiterated the stance of the Peoples Conference, emphasizing the party’s persistent belief that the violence in the region ignited following the rigged electoral process of 1987.
“Aaah!!! The ultimate Freudian slip. The dark revelation of the truth by the even darker subconscious mind. Our party President Sajad Lone has been repeatedly talking about it. That 1987 was the bloody tipping point. And till date there has not been a closure to 1987. Is this now the closure???
So you do agree the violence started in 1987. So now you do agree that people of J and K were provoked and the provocation was the rigged election of 1987”, Ansari said. — (KDC)
