Anti-militancy operations in South Kashmir leaves seven militants dead

Srinagar (KIMS): Seven militants including AuGH (Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind) Chief were killed in two different anti-militancy operations in South Kashmir districts on Friday.

Reports said that seven militants among them five were killed in Jan Mohalla at Shopian town and two were killed in Nowbugh area in Tral Township in Pulwama district.

The militants slain in Nowbugh Tral operation have been identified as identified as Imtiyaz Shah and Younis Khanday, both residents of Ratsuna Tral. The duo were affiliated with AuGH (Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind) militant outfit.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) was launched by joint team of Government forces including Indian Army’s 44 RR (Rashtriya Rifles), J&K Police and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) in Shopian town. Same kind of search operation was launched by Indian Army’s 42 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) and J&K Police in Nowbugh area of Tral following the inputs about presence of militants in these areas.

Four army personnel were also injured in Shopian anti-militancy operation.

Arms including 7 AK-47 and 2 Pistols were recovered from encounter sites.

Meanwhile, authorities have snapped down mobile internet service in South Kashmir districts as a precautionary measure. (KIMS)
