Anti-militancy Operations: Militant slain in Shopian, escaped in Sopore

SRINAGAR – A local militant was slain in South Kashmir’s Shopian district while as they managed to escape from anti-militancy operation site in Sopore town in North Kashmir.

Reports said, militant identified as Aitmad Ahmad Dar from Awend Shopian was slain in an anti-militancy operation in Ganowpora Shopian. He was affiliated with (LeT) Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit.

Aitmad had joined the militant group (LeT) Lashkar-e-Toiba in March this year.

However militants managed to escape from anti-militancy operation site in Warpora Sopore.

Earlier Indian Army’s 44 RR, J&K Police and 14 BN CRPF had jointly launched (CASO) Cordon-and-Search-Operation in Ganowpora village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area. Same kind of operation was launched by Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF in Warpora village in North Kashmir’s Sopore town.

“Arms, ammunition including One AK-56 Rifle and other incriminating material were recovered from encounter site in Shopian,” police said.
