Army’s 19 RR organized Chinar Women’s Premier League in Dooru Anantnag

ANANTNAG — In Kashmir Valley, where the administration along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police are organizing tournaments every day to keep the youth away from drugs and narcotics. Chinar Women’s Cricket League tournament for young girls was organized by 19 Rashtriya Rifles Sikhli of Indian Army on Saturday in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district in which 12 teams from different districts of the valley are participating.

The inaugural match was played between Anantnag and Kokernag on Saturday. President Municipal Committee Dooru Muhammad Iqbal Ahangar attended the opening match as the chief guest while Commanding Officer 19 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel Manpreet, DSP Doru Dr. Ishan Gupta were also present.

Apart from hundreds of cricket fans, police and other army officers were also present on this occasion.

Mohammad Iqbal Ahangar said that there is a lot of cricket talent in Jammu and Kashmir and the way such cricket tournaments are organized here by the army.

He said that girls will perform in this tournaments as much as they can play further so that they can get a better platform. The cricketers appreciated the initiative and urged the parents to help their children to pursue their career in sports.

A female player named Soumya Malik said that it is a happy moment for the girls that the 19 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army organized this tournament.

She said that the players participating in this tournament will be given an opportunity to play outside if they show the best performance, which will be a very happy thing for us.
