Burglary case solved within 24 hours in Srinagar, stolen property recovered, accused arrested

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police solved a burglary case within 24 hours in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday.

Two individuals involved in the burglary were arrested, and the stolen property was recovered.

“A written complaint was lodged by Naseer Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, on December 17, 2024, stating that unknown thieves had broken into his house in Deviahangan Hawal and stolen various items, including cash. Acting on the complaint, Police Station Nowhatta registered FIR No. 57/2024 under relevant sections of law and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the SHO of Police Station Nowhatta to conduct a thorough investigation,” police said in a statement.

“With swift and strenuous efforts, aided by human and technical intelligence, the accused—identified as Mohd Shamim Boya, son of Mohd Mamoom Boya of Ganga Rampur, Uluberia, Kolkata, West Bengal, and Mohd Sahil Sheikh, son of Mohd Sahib Ali Sheikh of Alipur Narala, Sector-8, Delhi—were arrested by Srinagar Police,” the statement added.

The stolen property was recovered on December 18, 2024. Further investigation into the case is going on. — (KIMS)
