SHOPIAN — A civilian was killed and another was injured besides one army personnel was also injured in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Pandoshan village in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Monday.
The militants however have managed to flee from the site of encounter.
Reports said, two civilians and an army personnel were injured during the initial stage of the encounter at Pandoshan village. The duo were airlifted to 92 Base Army Hospital at Srinagar for treatment.
However civilian identified as Shahid Gani Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar from Pandoshan Shopian succumbed to his injuries while as the condition of another civilian Shoaib Ahmad Mantoo is said to be stable.
The condition of injured army personnel Sanjeev Das is also said to be stable.
Earlier in the day, militants also managed to give slip to government forces in an encounter at Heff Shirmal village of the district.
The joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Pandoshan and Heff Shirmal villages following the inputs about presence of militants in the area. — (KIMS)
