Covid-19 situation forced Govt to impose partial lockdown in J&K

SRINAGAR (KIMS) – The worsening Covid-19 situation in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has forced Government to impose partial lockdown in the Union Territory.

The government has imposed lockdown in eleven districts among them seven are from Kashmir division and four in Jammu division.

The lockdown has been imposed in Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama and Ganderbal districts in Kashmir division and Jammu, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur districts in Jammu division.

The lockdown will be effective from Thursday (tomorrow) 07:00 pm till Monday 07:00 am.

However Bandipora, Kupwara and Shopian districts in Kashmir division while Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts have been exempted from lockdown due to low number of positive cases.

The decision has been taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases as the Union Territory is witnessing more than 2000 cases daily from last many days.

On Wednesday, the Union Territory reported 3,023 Covid-19 positive cases out of which 2,034 are from Kashmir division and 989 from Jammu division.

30 people also died of Covid-19 among them 18 are from Kashmir division and 12 from Jammu division. – (KIMS)
