Crime Branch Kashmir files chargesheet against TDPI Director in recruitment scam case

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir on Tuesday said it has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 04/2022 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC before the Court of Sub-Judge, Sumbal, against a man from Bihar in a fake recruitment scam case.

The accused Ranjeet Prasad, son of Samdeo Prasad and a resident of Maksudpur village in Gopalganj district, Bihar, is the Director of True Dreams Project India Pvt. Ltd. (TDPI).

The case originated from a written complaint alleging that TDPI conducted a recruitment drive in Kashmir through its representatives, during which around 1,300 trainees were engaged. It was alleged that the trainees were promised monthly salaries ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 12,000 but were instead asked to deposit Rs 2,400 each as a registration fee.

Despite collecting the said amount, the company failed to pay any salary to the trainees.

During the investigation, it was prima facie established that several innocent students were allegedly cheated and defrauded on the pretext of providing tuition and employment opportunities.

EOW said the investigation, supported by oral and documentary evidence, concluded that the acts and omissions of the accused disclose offences punishable under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC.

As Ranjeet Prasad failed to cooperate with the investigating agency and could not be traced at the given address, the chargesheet has been submitted in absentia after initiating proceedings under Section 512 of the CrPC, EOW added. — (KIMS)
