Engineer Rashid’s release is a political ploy to influence Kashmiri voters: Mutahir Showkat

SRINAGAR — Mutahir Showkat, prominent Kashmiri entrepreneur and founder of Clout Scoop and MutaVerse, has criticized the recent bail release of Engineer Rashid, describing it as a calculated move to influence the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

“Kashmir is a region where emotions often dictate decisions, and political parties have frequently exploited this vulnerability,” Mutahir remarked. He emphasized that, with elections approaching, various strategies are being deployed to garner votes, especially in Kashmir, where emotional factors often outweigh practical concerns such as development.

Mutahir pointed out that this isn’t the first time such tactics have been used. He referred to the previous parliamentary elections, where Engineer Rashid’s imprisonment was framed as a sympathy card. During that period, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s significant work in the Baramulla district was overshadowed, leading to his electoral defeat. According to Mutahir, the current release of Engineer Rashid is yet another ploy to manipulate public sentiment ahead of the assembly polls.

“His release, timed just before the elections, is clearly aimed at stirring emotions, particularly among the youth,” Mutahir added.

He urged Kashmiri youth to be more discerning and prioritize the region’s long-term progress. “This is the moment to make a conscious decision. Will we continue to let emotions guide us, or will we focus on real development and progress? The youth must recognize what’s truly at stake.”

As the elections approach, Mutahir’s statement serves as a caution for voters to remain alert and not fall victim to emotional manipulation at the polls.
