Five LeT Militants Slain In Pulwama Anti-Militancy Operation

SRINAGAR – Five militants from Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) outfit were slain in an anti-militancy operation at Hanjin village of Rajpora in Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Friday.

Reports said the anti-militancy operation was launched by the joint team of government forces including Indian Army’s 44 RR, 182/183 BN CRPF and J&K Police in Hanjin area on Thursday night following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

In the operation five militants including district commander of Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit were slain and they have been identified as Nishaz Hussain Lone @ Khitab (district commander) son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, active since 2018, resident of Nageenpora Tral, Danish Manzoor Shiekh son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Sathergund Kakapora, Amir Wagay son of Ab Gani Wagay resident of Hanjan Payeen, Manzoor Ahmad Lone from Gurez Bandipora and a Pakistani militant Abu Rehan @ Tawheed.

One army personnel identified as Hawaldar Kashi of 44 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) was also killed during anti-militancy operation.

Arms, ammunition and other incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter, police said.

“One SLR rifle bearing no. 16047232 which belonged to JKP (IRP 11 Bn) and was snatched by militants in the year 2016 from guard of TV tower Lower Munda, regarding which a Case vide FIR No. 135/16 stands registered at PS Duroo Anantnag was also recovered from today’s encounter site”, police added.

Meanwhile authorities have snapped down mobile internet service in Pulwama district as a precautionary measure. — (KIMS)
