SRINAGAR — Five militants including Top Commander affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) militant outfits were killed in two different encounters at Pulwama and Budgam districts in Kashmir valley on Sunday.
Reports said, a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) was launched by the joint team of government forces including Indian Army, CRPF and J&K Police in Naira village of Pulwama district and Chrar-i-Sharief in Budgam district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that four Jaish-e-Mohammad militants including a top commander Zahid Wani of Karimabad Pulwama and a foreigner were killed in Naira Pulwama while a militant affiliated with Lashker-e-Toiba identified as Bilal Ahmad Khan of Bras Khansahib was killed in Charar-e-Shareef area of Budgam.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that five militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashker-e-Toiba were killed in two encounters in last 12 hours in Kashmir. He termed the killing of Jaish-e-Mohammad commander Zahid Wani and a foreigner a big success.
Kashmir Zone Police while Quoting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted, “05 militants of Pakistan sponsored militant outfits LeT & JeM killed in dual encounters in last 12 hours. JeM commander militant Zahid Wani & a Pakistani militant among the killed. Big success for us”.
On Saturday evening, two encounters broke out between government forces and militants at Naira village in Pulwama district and Chrar-i-Sharief area of Budgam district on Saturday evening.
