SRINAGAR — Former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday condemned the killing of a youth at Haal village in Pulwama district.
The youth identified as Aasif Ahmad Padroo, son of Mohd Ayub Padroo, a resident of Poterwal village in Shopian district was killed when a policeman’s rifle went off accidentally and bullet hit him at Haal village in Pulwama district.
The killing of youth comes on a day when, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Kashmir.
People’s Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti while condemning the killing in a tweet said, “As if the harsh measures put in place causing grave inconvenience to the people in Kashmir weren’t enough, Asif from Pulwama paid with his life in the name of ensuring security for HM’s visit. My heart goes out to his family”.
“The killing of an unarmed civilian in an “accidental fire” incident in Pulwama district is highly condemnable. There must be a swift, credible & transparent probe in to this death. Those responsible must be punished to the fullest extent possible,” tweeted National Conference Vice-President Omar Abdullah while condemning the killing.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that a case has been registered in this regard and the policeman has also been arrested. — (KIMS)
