Four drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, contraband substances recovered

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar on Monday and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“Three persons were intercepted by a Police party of Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh at a checkpoint established near CD Hospital Dalgate. During the search of these persons, identified as Yawar Bilal, Son of Bilal Ahmad Karni Abi Buchwara, Maroof Bilal Kolu, Son of Bilal Ahmad Kolu of Indranagar, Srinagar and Shoib Hilal Lawaye, Son of Hilal Ahmad Lawaye of Drugjan, Dalgate, 9.6 grams of Heroin was recovered,” police said in a statement.

In a similar incident, another drug peddler was arrested in Sozeith Bund area of the district.

“A drug peddler, identified as Abid Ahmad Bhat, Son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Sozeith Goripora was arrested by a team of Police at a checkpoint established at Sozeith Bund. During his search, 430 grams of Charas and 750 grams of Bhang Powder concealed in a polythene bag was recovered,” the statement said.

Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been taken up.

Police has also cautioned those engaged in drug dealings that law would catch them up sooner than anticipated and every offender will face full force of law. — (KIMS)
