SRINAGAR — Farusa Riyaz, a young athlete from Ganderbal district has won a gold medal in the 70 kg category at the UT-level Thang-Ta Championship held recently in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The championship was organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K for girls across all age categories at the Indoor Complex of the Sports Stadium Kathua.
Hailing from Nunner area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Farusa has recently passed her Class 12 examinations.
Farusa credited her success to the parents and coaches for their constant support and guidance.
“My parents, especially my father Riyaz Ahmad Rather have always supported me and the dedicated guidance of my coaches Shahid Sir and Hussain Sir has paid off,” she said.
“This victory proves that if you believe in yourself, hard work always pays off. This is just the beginning, and there are many more milestones to achieve,” she added.
