IED recovered, destroyed in Pulwama village, says police

SRINAGAR — Police on Thursday claimed to have averted a major tragedy by destroying an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Wanpora village on Newa-Srinagar road.

Police in a statement said, “an IED (approx 5kg) was detected by joint team of 50 RR, 183 BN CRPF, and Pulwama Police along roadside in a container at Wanpora village, which was later destroyed by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS)”.

“A case under relevant sections of law is being registered in this regard and further investigation is on”, the statement added, adding, “Few suspects have been picked up for questioning”. — (KIMS)
