SRINAGAR — J&K Peoples Conference Senior General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari today strongly rebuffed the “Jannat” remarks made by NC leader Omar Abdullah during a rally in Budgam and asked him to refrain from commenting on religion.
While expressing his utter surprise at Abdullah’s remarks, Ansari took to the microblogging site X saying, “During the Budgam rally Omar Abdullah said that these A team B team etc may get certificate of election but they will not get certificate of Jannat. I was taken aback by such comments. I normally try not to react, but since it concerns our religion, I felt compelled to intervene as a keen adherent and student of Islam.”
Refuting Abdullah’s assertion, Ansari stated, “May I remind Omar Abdullah that only the Almighty Allah will decide who goes to Jannat. That is the essence of our faith, of our religion. Let’s not mock religion. Omar Abdullah will not decide who will go to Jannat and who won’t.”
Ansari further cautioned Abdullah on commenting on religion and asserted that the days of myths and deception are over.
“I must caution him that the era of astagfirullah – ‘la-ila-ha il lalah sheikh Mohammed Abdullah’ is over, as is the era of myths surrounding Sheikh Abdullah’s name being written on chinar leaves. That deception is simply not possible now”
In a scathing critique, Ansari further said that Omar Abdullah is fortunate to have political opponents who refrain from questioning his religiosity.
“And Mr Omar Abdullah, look within. You are fortunate to have such generous political rivals. They refrain from questioning your religiosity. Elsewhere, questions would have been raised. Your audacity, when someone could question you on numerous matters, is surprising. If you ask me, your actions qualify for departure from Islam. We have never touched into your personal life.”
Ansari further urged Abdullah to refrain from invoking religion in his political speeches.
“Stop acting like a feudal lord and reject the notion that it was your family’s turn after the Maharaja. Neither do you possess the knowledge nor do you practice it”, he concluded. — (KNO)
