SRINAGAR — A militant was killed in an encounter between government forces and militants in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district on Thursday.
The slain militant has not been identified yet.
One Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army identified as Subedar Ram Singh of Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand was also killed during encounter.
He received bullet injuries and was evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment but he succumbed.
Earlier, a search operation was launched by joint team of government forces in Thanamandi area following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
Meanwhile, One AK rifle, a pistol and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site by the government forces.
