Infiltration bid foiled in Uri, militant killed; cache of arms, ammunition recovered: Army

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A militant was killed after joint team of forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kamalkot area of Uri in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.

The infiltration bid was foiled by the joint team of forces including Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday evening based on the intelligence inputs regarding likely infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in general area Uri in Baramulla district.

“Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Vigilant troops responded with effective fire,” the Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

On Sunday, the joint team of forces killed one militant and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from his possession.

“The joint team neutralised one heavily armed terrorist and recovered 01xAK Rifle, 02xAK Magazines, 57xAK Rounds, 02xPistols, 03xPistol Magazines and other war-like stores from the site,” the post said.

The search of the area is underway and operation is in progress. — (KIMS)
